Chelsea are through to the Champions League final 2012 after a remarkable 3-2 victory 0n aggregate over the holders Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

The semifinal second leg at the Nou Camp ended 2-2 and burst into life towards the end of the first half when Sergio Busquets put Barca ahead, Terry was sent off for kneeing the leg of Alexis Sanchez and Andres Iniesta made it 2-0.

Barca looked in total control but were rocked when Frank Lampard sent Ramires clear in first-half added time and the Chelsea midfielder lifted the ball brilliantly over the onrushing Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes into the empty net.

Barca squandered a chance to make it 3-1 early in the second half when the referee awarded a penalty for a Didier Drogba foul on Cesc Fabregas and Messi, who was denied by a post late on, crashed his spot kick against the crossbar.

Fernando Torres, who has a great record against Barca despite misfiring so many times for the Premier League side, then netted for Chelsea in stoppage time after being clear on goal.

The man of the match was definitely Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech. He looked back to his pre-head injury form, making absolutely brilliant saves.

He became the first player to score four goals twice in the Champions League. Messi bettered his previous record of four against Arsenal two seasons ago and now has 12 goals from seven Champions League matches after a majestic attacking performance from the World Player of the Year.

The three-time FIFA player of the year scored in the 25th, 42nd and 49th minutes for a 3-0 lead and his 17th career hat trick for Barcelona, then added goals in the 58th and 84th minutes for the first five-goal game of his professional career.

Lionel Messi is  often criticised for not playing his best for Argentina and saving it for his club Barcelona proved all his critcs wrong with these three stunning goals.

Messi gave Argentina a 19th-minute lead and produced another piece of inspiration with a run which took him past the entire Swiss defence.

Xherdan Shaqiri fired an equaliser early in the second half but Messi struck again with a clinical goal in the 87th minute and completed his hat-trick with a last-minute penalty.

Lionel Messi’s performance kept the 30,000 home crowed silenced for the most of the time. Despite a very little support for the Argentina players Argentina stars showed their flawless great passing game on a poor pitch.

Messi had already had a couple of runs at the Swiss defence before his opening goal when he played the ball to Aguero who back-heeled the return for Messi to slot the ball into the bottom corner.

He then dribbled around the entire Swiss defence and pulled the ball back into the penalty area but his team mates failed to read the move and the ball was cleared.

Argentina had the possession for maximum time in the game but Swiss midfield halted them by repeatedly by tactical fouls which went unpunished by the referee, including two clear yellow card offences by Captain Gokhan Inler.

Barcelona was behind as Valencia players opened scoring but Argentina star and  World Player of the Year Lionel Messi had different plans as he led Barcelona fightback with two goals in five minutes to put them ahead by the 27th minute as Pep Guardiola's side responded with some exhilarating football.

Barcelona twice hit the crossbar before Messi bagged his third in the 76th, and he lobbed the fourth five minutes from time.

Substitute Xavi lobbed the fifth at the end to move his side on to 51 points from 23 games. Valencia was third with 40 points.
