Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Chennai super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets in the opening match of IPL 5

It was said the first match of IPL 5 will be interesting, it was but only for Mumbai Indians (MI) fans as Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets in the first match of 2012 IPl 5.

Mumbai Indians (MI) put together a great bowling performance to bold out Chennai Super Kings(CSK)  on a poor score of just 112 runs in 19.5 overs. Mumbai Indians (MI) chased down this score very easily in 16.5 overs losing just two wickets.

Mumbai Indian (MI) captain Harbhjan Singh won the toss and decided to field first. It proved to be a great decision as bundle down the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) strong batting line just for 112 runs. Kieron Pollard, Pragyan Ojha and Lasith Malinga shared two wickets each between them James Franklin got one wicket and three Chennai Super Kings players got run out by the wonderful fielding by the Mumbai Indian (MI) fielders.


Suresh Raina was the highest run scorer who made 36 runs in 26 balls with 2 fours and a six. All other Chennai Super King (CSK) batsmen failed to impress.

In reply Mumbai Indians (MI) chased down these run very comfortably scoring 115/2 in just 16.5 overs. Richard Levi was th star of the show for Mumbai Indians he scored 50 runs in just 35 balls with 3 sixes and a 6 fours Ambati Rayudu score 18 and James Franklin scored 25 runs and remained not out. Sachin Tendulkar retired hurt on 16.
