Four Indians are in the ICC ODI Team of the year featuring Mahendra Singh Dhoni of India - four years in a row and Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan. Sri Lanka has three players in the side. ICC Test Team has already been announced which has two Indian players Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan.
Six countries are represented in the 12-man line-up. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 winning captain keeps wicket and leads the side and is joined by fellow ICC ODI Team of the Year 2009 members AB de Villiers of South Africa and Shane Watson of Australia.
The ICC on Monday announced its ODI Team of the Year, as chosen by a specially appointed selection panel chaired by West Indian batting legend and former captain Clive Lloyd, according to the governing body's release.

The announcement was made at a special function ahead of the LG ICC Awards ceremony which is being held on Monday evening at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.  Presented in association with FICA, the LG ICC Awards recognise the best international players and officials of the past 12 months.

Chairman of the LG ICC Awards selection panel, Lloyd said: "This has been an outstanding year for 50-over cricket. I think everyone saw in the ICC Cricket World Cup how exciting this format can be.

Lloyd was joined on the panel by former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas, former England captain Mike Gatting, former New Zealand bowler Danny Morrison and former South African bowler Paul Adams. Statistics were available as a guide but were not necessarily the overwhelming factor in the choices made.

The ICC ODI Team of the Year was one of two teams selected by the ICC selection panel along with the Test line-up which was announced last month.

India v England ODI series: Ind vs Eng third ODI: India Lost 3rd ODI to England by 3 wickets

Indian Cricket Team’s disasters run in England continue as they lost the third one day international match at the Oval on friday to the host England  by 3 wickets.

Craig Kieswetter's quick-fire 51 and a nerveless 40 from Ravi Bopara, England reached their Duckworth-Lewis target of 218 in 43 overs with seven balls to spare and now have an unassailable 2-0 lead with two games in play in the five-match series.
India’s all top order batsman failed miserably as once India was struggling at 58-5. Ravindra Jadeja and Dhoni put on 112 runs partnership to steady the ship and a 59-run partnership between Jadeja, who finished with 79 from 89 balls, and Ravichandran Ashwin ensured India made a respectable score

But England openers Cook and Kieswetter, who hit three big sixes, took the hosts past 50 without loss by the ninth over.

Munaf Patel broke the partnership when he trapped Cook lbw for 23 with the score on 60.

Kieswetter brought up his 50 in 41 balls, yet he perished moments later as Jadeja found some spin to knock out his middle stump.

India's spinners suddenly posed a serious threat and England were reduced to 89-3 after Ashwin bowled Trott.

The hosts added six more runs before rain stopped play for an hour, leaving England with a new Duckworth-Lewis target of 218.

Ian Bell didn't help England's cause when he was run out for 23 by Dhoni after he started for a single and turned back too late.

Youngster Ben Stokes showed his lack of experience as he bowled round his legs by Ashwin and were England wobbling at 138-5.

Fortunately for England, Bresnan and Bopara - staking his claim for a permanent place in the team with 40 in 41 balls - turned the tide with a crucial 60-run stand for the sixth wicket.

Jadeja returned to dismiss Bresnan and Ashwin bowled Bopara, but Stuart Board and Graeme Swann were able to see England home.

India v England ODI series: Ind vs Eng second ODI: India Lost 2nd ODI to England by 7 wickets

Indian Cricket teams dismal run in England Continues as India lost 2nd ODI against England by 7 wickets. Captain Alastair Cook led from the front as England took a 1-0 lead in the one-day series over India at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday.

Captain Alastair Cook made 80 not out as England overhauled India's total of 187-8 made in their 23 overs, with five balls to spare, after the match was shortened because of rain.

Ravi Bopara (24) scored quick 24 runs against the Indian bowling attack, missing some of its bigger names, after Cook and Kieswetter had got England off to a rapid start. Kieswetter scored 46 from 25 balls with three sixes, including two successive sixes from the spin of Ravichandran Ashwin.

Cook, not considered a one-day player until he was made captain at the start of the season, got to his seventh one-day international 50 in 37 balls, controlled the run chase and even unveiled a reverse sweep.

With eight overs left the run rate was down to a run a ball and with wickets in hand England cruised home.

Kieswetter has attracted some criticism for making good starts and not finishing the job off and was guilty of that again as he was trapped leg before in the seventh over.

Bell came in and immediately hit two fours off the back foot to help England race past the 100 mark in the tenth over and break the back of their target before he holed out at extra cover for 25.

India's total was built on 54 from Ajinka Rahane - in just his second one-day international - and a whirlwind 40 from Suresh Raina, made from 19 balls.

With the match shortened Raina was in Twenty20 mode as he hit three fours and three sixes and accelerated the Indian run rate towards the end of the innings before he was well caught by Ben Stokes in the final over.

Tim Bresnan took two of his three wickets in that last over but the pick of the England bowlers was Graeme Swann who finished with 3-33 from five overs and gave his captain some control when India looked like getting away in the middle overs.

Rahul Dravid chipped in with 32 and opener Parthiv Patel made 28 of the first 30 runs before he was caught behind off James Anderson.

The third international in the five-match series takes place at the Oval in London on Friday.

Sachin Tendulkar injured and out of ODI Series

More bad news for injury hit Indian cricket team. Now, Sachin Tendulkar was on Monday ruled out of the entire ODI series against England because of a toe injury, dealing a massive blow to a struggling India which has already been laid low by a spate of injuries to key players.

Tendulkar was carrying this injury for quite a while but the problem aggravated just before the opening match of the five-match series at Chester-le-Street on Saturday.

The 38-year-old Tendulkar missed the opening match of the ODI series because of an inflamation of the toe injury and will need at least four weeks to recover fully.

"Tendulkar has been ruled out of the series and he will take another four weeks to regain fitness," team manager Shivlal Yadav said.

The veteran batsman, who captains Mumbai Indians, is also almost certain to miss the Champions League Twenty20 event to be held at four venues in the country from September 19 to October 9.

The batting maestro, who is just one short of completing the incredible milestone of 100 international centuries, will have to wait longer with this latest injury.

It has been a wretched tour so far for India, who lost the Test series 0-4 before being handed a defeat in the lone Twenty20 match as well.

The team is already missing key players such as Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan due to injuries.

Sharma was the last Indian cricketer to have been ruled out after being hit by a Stuart Broad delivery in the 38th over of the Indian innings during the first ODI.

Sharma retired hurt after facing that ball. He went for a check up and a fracture was confirmed.

While Sehwag is out because of hearing problems, Gambhir has been forced to go back due to blurred vision following an awkward fall during a Test. Zaheer, on the other hand, has already undergone an ankle surgery.
